Profile

James Owan is a young graduate of Electrical Electronics Engineering from Abubakar Tafawa Balewa University, Bauchi. He is currently running NCDMB/AGIP-sponsored Human Capital Development training in Wireline and Perforation Engineering with BG Technical/Ambong Energy Services, Port Harcourt.

Inspired by Pope Francis’encyclical, Laudato Si, and pushed by hash effects of climate change and environmental degradation in his Niger Delta community and in Northern Nigeria where he schooled, James is working passionately and hard to mitigate the effects of climate change in Nigeria and help the world achieve its 2060 net-zero targets.

He is the Author of Why am I in School and Ogoja: Bleeding, Dying. James was working on his third book, a book on climate change and Development, titled, “The Charcoal Seller’s Daughter” when he emerged the second runner-up in the Second Essay Competition organized by the Centre for Climate Change and Development, Alex Ekwueme Federal University, Ndufu-Alike in collaboration with the Sustainable Development Centre, University of Abuja on 15th February 2023.

James believes and teaches that climate change is real and that whoever plants one tree saves the world entirely. He is a critic of consumerism and irresponsible development.
