Chinedu Jude Nwasum

Chinedu Jude Nwasum is an academic staff in the Department of Mass Communication at Alex Ekwueme Federal University, Ndufu- Alike, Nigeria where he also lectures and serves as the Programme Coordinator.

He has a rich blend of research, teaching and practical experience having worked as a Public Relations Officer at Secondary Education Board, Ebonyi State, a Proof Reader at Nigerian Observer Newspaper, Edo state, in Nigeria respectively, and currently a teaching staff in the university. He also worked as a reporter for the Voice Newspaper.

Chinedu Nwasum has a broad experience in engaging the media, managing communication strategizes, and building as well as maintaining mutual relationship between organisations and their stakeholders through; issuing statements, press releases, developing communication strategies, developing web content and managing social media, disseminating information and knowledge about services, preparing flyers and engaging key stakeholders in conversations and discussions to create awareness and enhance visibility for organisations and institutions.

As a post graduate student at Leeds Beckett University, United Kingdom, he collaborated with 5 students of different nationalities to develop a communication plan for IKEA and a few hospices within Leeds. In other previous offices, he had employed tact and unique approaches in dealing with the communication needs of the organisation.

In the area of research, Chinedu Nwasum’s academic work is devoted to understanding the issues within political communication, public relations, journalism and social media as they affect the daily activities of Nigerians and the government. Some of his papers are published in reputable journals in the field of communication.

He has organised, managed and attended several training workshops and conferences leading to some peer reviewed journal articles. He was an integral member of the team that organised the First International Conference of Faculty of Management and Social Sciences, AEFUNAI. In addition, he has served as Editorial Assistants to some institutional journals.

Currently, he is a member of the Editorial Committee for a Festschrift project in Reforming University Education in Nigeria for Sustainability and High-Level Performance. He is well trained and skilled in the use of SPSS, STRATA, Python and other statistical software.

Chinedu Jude Nwasum has an MA in Public Relations and Strategic Communication from Leeds Beckett University and a Bachelor degree in Mass Communication from Ebonyi State University, and lives in Abakaliki, Ebonyi State, Nigeria.
