Research Fellows on Long Term Energy Modelling are Urgently Wanted

Location:   Ebonyi State.

The Centre for Climate Change and Development at Alex Ekwueme Federal University Ndufu-Alike, Ebonyi State is looking for extremely bright and capable research fellows to work on Nigeria long term energy scenario/ modelling project. The emphasis will be constructing scenarios of how Nigeria can achieve long term economic growth project while reducing Green House Gas emissions. The emphasis will be on the following sectors of the economy – Agriculture, Forestry and Land Use (AFOLU), Transport, Residential, Waste, Energy, Commerce & Industry and Oil $ Gas.

The Post Holders Will

  • Conduct energy related secondary research on the sectors.
  • Conduct long term energy modelling using state-of-the-art modelling tools
  • Compile, analyse and interpret data
  • Write reports and scientific papers.
  • Prepare briefing notes and presentation slides.
  • Work in a team of energy, climate change and policy experts.

Required Qualification & Skills

  • Minimum of Masters degree in Engineering, Environmental Science, Economics or other related fields.
  • Outstanding research skills
  • Outstanding communication, interpersonal and presentation skills.
  • At least a basic experience in the usage of energy modelling tools (e.g. LEAP, TIMES, MESSEGE etc), programming and the usage of office software packages (MS Word, Excel, Power Point, Outlook, Skype, Zoom, etc).
  • Advanced knowledge of spreadsheet up to VBA.
  • Familiarity with ongoing debates and initiatives in the field of energy decarbonisation, climate change and environmental sustainability.
  • Ability to write clearly and consistently and present to a wide variety of local and international audiences.
